little pieces of advice

So a friend sent this to me and I found it to be very inspirational. I am going to write a bit of commentary after each line, giving my own thoughts about it. Unfortunately, I do not know who wrote this so I can give them credit. ( In no way whatsoever am I taking credit for this.)

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
( sometimes life just sucks. Things happen that I wish didn't but like the line says- its still good. I remember all the blessings I have in my life and all the things that I dont have no longer seem to matter.)
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
( I guess that is all you can do...just take everything one baby step at a time.)
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
(this is so true. It is probably the best piece of advice I have ever heard. Hate is such a strong word anyway. I dont bother wasting time hating people because it is only harming me;wasting my energy. Plus, hating someone is overrated. You may just dislike their actions but you shouldn't really hate them; atleast that is my philosophy.)
4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
( ok now this one I do not completely agree with. If you want to be taken seriously you have to take yourself seriously.)
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
(Hahahahah I wish that were possible. but how lovely is that?)
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
(This is a piece of advice that I still need to work on. I am naturally argumentative. I have to remember not everything is a fight. Not everything is an argument. If more people remembered this I feel like they would be so much less stressed.)
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
(I do not like to cry in front of people. It makes me feel vulnerable. But I can see how its more helpful.)
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
( I do not agree with this at all. I can never be angry with God. He has blessed me with so much.) 9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
( This is a sound piece of advice. Saving for the future is crucial because you never know what is going to happen.)
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
(hahahahah I completely agree with this. No one can truly resist the yummy taste of chocolate.)
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
( this is true. however your past is your past. it makes you who you are. It defines you in a way. But I agree-learn from it so the future is better.)
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their
Journey is all about.
( I never compare my life to others because each person has a unique story to tell. even if thereare things that are similar it is still no comparison. each person copes with things differently.)
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
( WELL THEN. Ummm no comment. )
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
( Phwwwwwwwweeww. Thank goodness for that. :] )
16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.
( Living each day as if it were my last is something I am trying to work on. I try to get tasks accomplished each and every day so that at the end of the day I cant say it was a wasted one.)
17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.
( like i said just live each day as if it were your last. take one day at a time. worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.)
18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.
(I still have not learned that one yet. If you want to do something do it...i gotta learn how to do that.)
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else. (awwww i will probably never grow old because i am so young at heart.)
20.if it comes to going after what you want in life, dont take no for an answer.
( I love this one. No one has the right to stop you from living your life.)
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
( hahahahah this is one i love. I think it is hilarious when people buy expensive things but wait for a "later date" to use them. why bother buying it in the first place?)
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
( hey, I love purple and i am not old. haha)
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
( but when others are effecting my happiness they are.)
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years,
Will this matter?"
( this is sound advice for any young adult.)
27. Always choose life.
( I love life even when it doesn't always love me back. it could be way worse)
28. Forgive everyone everything.
( I sometimes forgive too much)
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
( don't worry about what your reputation is because its only what others assume about you. worry about your character)
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
( I try to never take for granted how good something is because it can change so fast.)
32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
(I love my friends. they are some of the best people i know.)
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did
Or didn't do.
(God is so gracious, so forgiving.)
35. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.
38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
( I do not want anyone else's problems. i have enough of my own and thank God they are not as bad as others.)
41. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
42. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
( This is my life motto. I hate jealousy. it is a wasted emotion as well as weak. it doesn't get you what you want or where you need to be.)
45. The best is yet to come.
( and babe wont it be fine. hahaha. I certainly hope so)
46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
(hahahahaha I love dressing up!!)
47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
( i take deep breaths atleast twenty times a day. hahaa)
48. If you don't ask, you don't get.
49. Yield.
50. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.
( life is precious. It is a rollercoaster. Sometimes it hits more bad bumps in the road then good ones but over all it is amazing and exciting.)
